OCTOPUS 1

What you will learn

  1. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. Enter the pool safely and unassisted, using the steps, ramp, swivel
  3. Move through water, walk, hop, skip or jump
  4. Use a woggle, swim 5m front and back paddle
  5. Push & glide on front and back
  6. Attempt a simultaneous circle action with legs on back for 2m, with woggle or floats
  7. Travel under a woggle bridge, through a watering can shower
  8. Return to standing from star float on back
  9. Use a woggle (sea horses) to tread water with legs
  10. Exit the pool safely and unassisted.

OCTOPUS 2

What you will learn

  1. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. Enter the pool safely with step or jump
  3. Swim 2m front paddle, 2m back paddle unaided
  4. Use a woggle to kick across pool while blowing bubbles
  5. Demonstrate front crawl arm action while standing
  6. Demonstrate back crawl arm action while standing
  7. Push & glide on front with face in water
  8. Push & glide on back, arms by side
  9. Rotate from back float to front float and return to back (can use woggle)
  10. Completely submerge and retrieve an object

OCTOPUS 3

What you will learn

  1. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  2. Enter pool with step or jump, turn and swim back to side
  3. Push and glide on the front and swim 5m.
  4. Push and glide on the back and swim 5m
  5. Perform star float (back or front) hold for 3 seconds
  6. Perform dolphin kick on front or back for 2m
  7. Scull head first using a woggle
  8. Attempt breast stroke - may use woggle
  9. Tread water for 10 seconds
  10. Swim 2m on front, roll onto back, swim 2m on back, roll onto front and stand

GOLDFISH 1

What you will learn

  1. Show rhythmic breathing in front crawl for 10m, can use woggle
  2. Swim 5m of recognisable breast stroke
  3. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  4. Perform a step in or jump entry, tread water for 5 seconds, swim to wall
  5. Push and glide and hold the glide for 5 seconds.
  6. Push & glide or swim to bottom and retrieve object
  7. Swim 5m on front, roll and swim 5m on back
  8. Perform dolphin kick on front or back for 5m
  9. Scull head first for 2m
  10. Scull feet furst using woggle for support

GOLDFISH 2

What you will learn

  1. Enter water with step or jump entry, swim 5m on front, swim to side and exit safely
  2. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  3. Perform back float, tuck to front float and return to standing position
  4. Push & glide on back, tuck, rotate to front and return to starting point
  5. Swim 10m recognised front stroke 1st choice
  6. Swim 10m back crawl
  7. Swim 5m of recognised front stroke, 2nd choice
  8. Scull head first for 5m and feet first for 3m
  9. Push & glide to bottom, tuck, place feet on bottom and spring up
  10. Perform mushroom float, hold for 3 seconds, extend to front float, return to standing position

GOLDFISH 3

What you will learn

  1. Perform handstand with both hands on floor
  2. Submerge, push and glide on side, roll to a face down position
  3. Answer 2 water safety questions.
  4. Perform 2 different types of entries and tread water for 15 seconds each time; performed in shoulder deep water.
  5. Swim 15 metres backstroke.
  6. Swim 15 metres of a recognised front stroke. 1st choice
  7. Swim 10m holding a float under each arm, lifesaving backstroke legs
  8. Swim 5 metres dolphin leg kick on front
  9. Swim 5m dolphin kick on back
  10. Perform a horizontal float on the back and hold for 5 seconds roll on to the front hold for 5 seconds, roll to the original back float position and hold for 5 seconds.

ANGELFISH 1

What you will learn

  1. Swim 5m of lifesaving backstroke without aids
  2. Be rescued by a reaching aid.
  3. Perform a straddle entry and tread water for 30 seconds. If water too shallow substitute step entry and support scull.
  4. Push and glide into a forward somersault.
  5. Scull head first for 5m and feet first for 5 metres.
  6. Swim 15m of a recognised front stroke using correct breathing 1st choice
  7. Swim 10 metres of a recognised front stroke using correct breathing 2nd choice
  8. Swim 20m back crawl.
  9. Swim 10m dolphin kick, without aids.
  10. Start in a crouch position in the water, spring up, pike, glide to bottom of pool then glide to surface.

ANGELFISH 2

What you will learn

  1. Swim 5m dolphin kick on side
  2. Be rescued by catching a buoyant aid.
  3. Perform a straddle entry, tread water for 30 seconds, perform a 360-degree turn in a vertical position whilst wearing a T-shirt.
  4. Swim 5m perform a forward somersault and continue to swim forward for 5m
  5. Swim 20m of a recognised front stroke using a correct finish 1st choice
  6. Swim 15m of a recognised front stroke using a correct touch finish 2nd choice
  7. Swim 20m back crawl using a correct touch finish.
  8. Swim 5 metres on the back using a double arm action and dolphin leg kick.
  9. Start in a crouch position in the water, spring up, pike, and glide to the bottom of the pool, tuck, place both feet on the bottom of the pool and spring up; performed in chest deep water.
  10. Swim underwater for 5m

ANGELFISH 3

What you will learn

  1. Perform sitting dive, if in shallow water perform underwater push & glide, roll onto back and surface in back glide
  2. Be rescued by catching a rope.
  3. Perform a straddle entry and tread water for 30 seconds whilst wearing a T-shirt. Remove the Tshirt and climb out unassisted.
  4. Perform a head first and feet first surface dive or if shallow water perform an underwater push and glide to pool floor.
  5. Scull feet first and head first for 10m
  6. Swim 25m back crawl incorporating a correct finish.
  7. Swim 25m of a recognised front stroke, incorporating a correct finish 1st choice
  8. Swim 20m of recognised front stroke incorporating a correct finish 2nd choice
  9. Swim 5 metres butterfly; not suitable for under 7 year olds.
  10. Push & glide into handstand

SHARK 1

What you will learn

  1. Swim 50m back stroke
  2. Perform a shout and signal rescue to a weak swimmer 5m away
  3. Enter the water with a slide in entry, swim 10m in a T-shirt, tread water for 30 seconds, remove T-shirt, and climb out.
  4. Swim 5m of a recognised front stroke, perform a head first surface dive and swim 5m underwater.
  5. Swim 5m of a recognised front stroke, perform a feet first surface dive, tuck and swim 5m underwater.
  6. Swim 50m of a recognised front stroke 1st choice
  7. Swim 25m of a recognised front stroke 2nd choice
  8. Swim 25m Old English backstroke.
  9. Swim 25m front crawl demonstrating bilateral breathing.
  10. Perform a kneeling dive.

SHARK 2

What you will learn

  1. Throw a buoyant aid 3m to target point in pool
  2. Scull head first for 20m
  3. Swim 10m butterfly
  4. Perform reaching rescue to casualty up to 2m from side
  5. In T-shirt and shorts star jump entry, swim 10m of a recognised stroke, tread water for 1 minute, swim 5m of a recognised stroke, surface dive, swim 3m underwater, surface, climb outl unassisted.
  6. Swim 75m during which the pupil performs 3 recognised strokes with a smooth transition and correct turns.
  7. Perform a backwards somersault
  8. Wearing a T-shirt and shorts, swim 20m sidestroke.
  9. Perform a plunge dive and swim width of pool or 7m, in shallow water push & glide on side, roll onto back, return to surface with dolphin kick
  10. Swim 4 x 1 width individual medley incorporating appropriate transition procedure at the end of each stroke.

SHARK 3

What you will learn

  1. Swim 50m side stroke or old English backstroke
  2. Perform head first surface dive, pick up toy (minimum depth 1.5m)
  3. Throw a rope over 5m
  4. Straddle jump in wearing a T-shirt and shorts, swim 25m in a recognised stroke, tread water or support scull for 1 minute, tread water for 1 minute waving one arm, surface dive, swim 5m underwater, surface and remove clothes
  5. Swim 100m of a recognised stroke on front, incorporating the appropriate start, turns, & finish, 1st choice
  6. Swim 50m of a recognised front stroke, incorporating the appropriate start, turns and finish; 2nd choice.
  7. Swim 100m back crawl incorporating the appropriate start, turns and finish.
  8. Swim 25m of a fourth recognised stroke not undertaken in the other tests.
  9. Swim 4 x 1 length individual medley incorporating the appropriate transition procedure at the end of each stroke.
  10. Perform a competitive start for two recognised strokes using two different stances that are legal for depth of water available.
